Welcome to our new ERGO web site for shortwave radio control. I thought it was about time to refresh our web site. And, this is it.
Times change. But the joys of shortwave and medium wave DX remain. Perhaps a bit less to listen to (a lot less, actually) and a bit more RFI to contend with. On the other hand, we have better radios to play with. And some of us are now retired which provides more time for playing.
Shortwave radio control is alive and well. Although it has changed a lot over the years. There are two big trends today. The first is towards more software defined radio. The second is remote listening. ERGO does a pretty good job at connecting to modern SDR radios through its interface with third party software. Your radio can be remotely controlled, as well.
RS232 is alive and well, also. Rather than disappearing, virtual COM ports now do the job.
ERGO remains dedicated to Shortwave Radio Control
The old web site, at SWLDX.COM will close down next spring. It has has been around for 16 years. Recently, I have been publishing a number of blogs using WordPress, which is a wonderful tool for easy-to-maintain web sites.
It’s fun to look at the old ERGO web site using the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. You can see our original Version 3 of ERGO, which was sold between 1997-2001. Version 4 hit the waves as a beta in 2003. The “look and feel” of the site changed to its present form mid way through 2009.
All of the information has been migrated to this site and refreshed. This includes the downloads page, and better embedding of this support videos. I also refreshed the ERGO shortwave radio control software as well, including a new installation package with the latest files, faster checking for updates, and a few other things.
